About server

This page will give you the prerequisites you need to understand before building your Palworld server.

Server type

There are two main types of Palworld servers that you can hosted on your machine.

  • Dedicated server
  • Community server

These servers are cross-play enabled by default for the platforms listed below.

  • Steam version
  • Xbox series and the Windows PC version downloaded from the Microsoft Store
  • MacOS version

Cross-play with the PS5 version is currently unavailable. Co-op cross-play is currently AVAILABLE.

Dedicated server

Dedicated servers is a method used to host a server without hosting the world from the game client.
The host does not need to keep the game client running at all times, and the number of people who can join is large.
Use an IP address and port number to join the server.

Community server

A community server is a dedicated server that has registered a dedicated server on the server list in the game client.
Therefore, in essence, it is no different from a dedicated server, with the difference being whether or not it appears on the server list within the game client.

If you want to join the server from the Xbox version or the PS5 version, you need to deploy it as a community server.
